Covid changed my routine, but in a good way. It put me in spaces I would never have been without Covid. It allowed me to put my foot in the door which led to where I'm at right now. I'm the senior advocate/Shine counselor at the Chelsea Senior Center. My coworkers are great. They're all like my mentors here. I'm learning from them as much as possible 'cause they're all full of knowledge and resources and skills. Working for the city made me care about my life and my future.
During the pandemic I left school and there was a job offer with the city to work as a contractor to help pass out food. I worked at the Chelsea Eats program, and then with the Covid Clinics, where I was one of two Spanish speakers. The Covid vaccine clinics was one of the funnest jobs I've ever worked. We worked very closely with the Chelsea Black Community. They helped organize and keep things running. They ran it so well. It had such good flow. Every day felt refreshing. It was another reality. It geve me so much purpose, because I was helping. It made me grow my voice.

La COVID-19 cambió mi rutina, pero para bien. Me puso en situaciones en las que nunca habría estado sin ella. Me permitió abrirme camino y llegar a donde estoy ahora. Soy la defensora principal/consejera de Shine en el Centro para Personas Mayores de Chelsea. Mis compañeros son geniales. Todos son como mis mentores. Aprendo de ellos todo lo que puedo porque todos están llenos de conocimientos, recursos y habilidades. Trabajar para la ciudad me hizo preocuparme por mi vida y mi futuro.
Durante la pandemia, dejé la escuela y recibí una oferta de trabajo con la ciudad como contratista para ayudar a repartir comida. Trabajé en el programa Chelsea Eats, y luego en las Clínicas de COVID-19, donde fue una de las dos personas hispanohablantes. Las clínicas de vacunación contra la COVID-19 fueron uno de los trabajos más divertidos que he tenido. Colaboramos estrechamente con la Comunidad Negra de Chelsea. Ellos ayudaron a organizar y mantener todo en marcha. Lo dirigieron de maravilla. Todo fluía de maravilla. Cada día era refrescante. Era otra realidad. Me dio un gran propósito, porque estaba ayudando. Me hizo crecer mi voz.
